New Trio Recording #5 – NPS

Here’s our interpretation of the great Cedar Walton tune NPS. I’ve got a few more unreleased tracks to post here once I finish mixing them, so I hope you’ll subscribe to get an email when I post another. The Tony Melone Trio is bassist Ian Riggs, drummer Evan Pazner, and myself. Recorded by me.

This program has good music library features and implements ReplayGain, which makes for a much better listening experience.

New Trio Recording #4 – Someone To Watch Over Me

It took me a while, but I finally have another track mixed from the recent Tony Melone Trio recording session. This is my arrangement of a classic Gershwin tune. If you listen closely to this one you’ll hear special guest artist Lola chiming in with a few well-timed barks…a giveaway that this is a home recording. But even though we weren’t in a real studio, I think it sounds pretty good. Stay tuned for a few more tracks from this session. Here’s a recent recording of my trio playing one of my favorite jazz standards. It’s a quiet one, so it probably won’t sound great on your laptop speakers, but I hope you’ll plug in some headphones and check it out. I plan to keep on posting new recordings for free download for a few more weeks at least, until I figure out a killer new business model, but if you leave some encouraging comments I’ll post them sooner. New Trio Recording #2 – STS

This is an old song of mine that I finally got around to recording. I’m releasing it today in honor of STS-128, wishing them a safe return to earth tomorrow. I’ve been fascinated by the space shuttle and space exploration in general since I was nine years old. I hope you’ll indulge me with a listen and leave a comment below if you like it (or if you don’t). The Tony Melone Trio is bassist Ian Riggs, drummer Evan Pazner, and myself. Usually we play jazz, though songs like this are harder to classify. I’ll post some more recordings soon; subscribe if you want to stay in the loop.

New Trio Recording #1

The Tony Melone Trio is bassist Ian Riggs, drummer Evan Pazner, and myself. We’ve been playing together for at least nine years in numerous bands, but we occasionally get a chance to perform or record some jazz standards and some of my own tunes. We put out a CD called Ground Level back in 2001 (I still have some, contact me if you want one), but we just recently started working on a new album. Here’s a little taste of what we’ve got so far. Recorded and mixed by me.
